Ensemble Featuring GWU Faculty to Perform

Distinguished Artist Series to feature Carolina Brass on Jan. 30

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—The Distinguished Artist Series of èßäÍ·Ìõ University presents Summit recording artist, , on Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Hamrick Hall’s Blanton Auditorium. Tim Hudson, GWU associate professor of music, founded Carolina Brass in 1997. The ensemble also features GWU instructors Bob Campbell, horn player, and Dave Wulfeck, trombonist.

Other members are Dennis de Jong, trumpeter, Matt Ransom, tubist, and John R. Beck, percussionist.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, Carolina Brass performs extensively in educational settings. The group’s mission is to promote the understanding of music and to improve the performance level of musicians of all ages through performances, residencies, master classes, and recordings.

With a combination of virtuosity and good humor, Carolina Brass is a favorite among audiences of all ages. Drawing from their vast repertoire of Classical and Contemporary works, Medieval and Renaissance music, and popular forms encompassing Broadway, Jazz, Dixieland, and Big Band, the group creates exciting, entertaining and educational programs.

This group of dedicated professionals trained at some of the country’s most prestigious schools, including the New England Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, and the Eastman School of Music, Carolina Brass personnel have extensive national and international performing, recording and touring experience.

Carolina Brass has released several CDs, including two Christmas collections. One project features Broadway tunes and another showcases the music of award-winning composer Arthur Frackenpohl. For more information, visit the website carolinabrass.com.
