Performances will be held Outside of Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.鈥擜lthough COVID-19 health guidelines changed the dynamics of rehearsals, the 猫咪头条 University Department of Theatre Arts accepted the unique challenges. A cast of 11 students will present 鈥淎ll in the Timing鈥� at 8 p.m. on Oct. 7-11. Directed by Dr. Chris Nelson, assistant professor of theatre arts, the production will be performed on two stages set up outside of Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center, 116 Lutz-Yelton Drive. Folding chairs will be available or audience members may bring their own.

鈥淲e have been masking and distancing for this show, and that has been quite an adjustment,鈥� Nelson offered. 鈥淲e have had cast and crew members in quarantine, so that has caused us to lose two weeks’ worth of rehearsal time and change one of the shows. Because it鈥檚 an evening of short plays, each one has a small cast, so there鈥檚 no need to bunch up. It allows us to do theatre even under the circumstances, and that’s good for our students. They need to be practicing their various crafts.鈥�

鈥淎ll in the Timing鈥� features six one-act comedies written by David Ives. He is known for his verbal dexterity, theatrical invention, and humor. This work won the Outer Critics Circle Playwriting Award, ran for two years Off-Broadway, and in the 1995-96 season, was the most-performed play in the country after Shakespeare productions.

鈥淚 have always liked David Ives and his quirky humor,鈥� Nelson observed. 鈥淲e hope folks will come out and support our students. They have worked very hard under adverse conditions to put this show on, and I’m proud of their flexibility.鈥�

Tickets are free for 猫咪头条 students, faculty, staff and children under 12, $10 for adults, and $5 for other students and seniors.
