The Academic Progression Committee (APC) evaluates students’ academic and professional standing within the program while assessing the need for student remediation, deceleration, or advancement to the next sequential semester based on student performance, including academic performance, clinical performance learning progress, and professional performance.

The Admissions Committee evaluates programmatic admissions criteria and policies, trending incoming student qualifications, and comparison of student qualifications to predict success in the PA program.

The Clinical Committee discusses current clinical courses, preceptor issues, and clinical students. In addition, this committee works collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Education to identify strengths and weaknesses while making recommendations for improvements.

The Community Outreach Committee is responsible for working with the GWUPASS to support the Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association Soup Kitchen Screening clinic and other opportunities. In addition, this committee will work together to identify areas where the program can serve the greater community for the Annual Service Day each fall. Finally, this committee will be the point of contact for requests from our community for service opportunities.

The Didactic Committee discusses current didactic courses, issues, and student performances. In addition, at the end of each didactic semester, this committee will review the semester performance and evaluations in each course.

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee include program faculty and students devoted to identifying barriers to student success and developing initiatives to support our diverse students. Together, the committee will determine and establish goals for the program, leading us to provide equitable and inclusive opportunities to our students, faculty, and staff and positively impact the patients our students and graduates will reach.

The Executive Committee is comprised of the Department Director, Associate Department Director, Director of Didactic Education, and the Director of Clinical Education. This committee meets biweekly to discuss policy and programmatic issues and review assessments.

The Summative Committee ensures that summative assessment elements are adequately evaluated so that each student is measured for competency in all program competencies. They will also identify areas of improvement and success in the summative assessment each year and implement changes/updates to ensure meeting the ARC-PA expectations. Finally, this committee is charged with developing and coordinating the summative schedule and remediation(s) that may be warranted.
