Welcome to the Pittman Center for Congregational Enrichment. The Center鈥檚 mission is to equip leaders for the work of the church through a full range of educational support services.
The Center offers workshops, seminars, and conferences on various aspects of Scripture, theology, teacher training and other areas of congregational life to enhance the skills of both clergy and lay leaders. While the courses are not designed to offer college or graduate level credit, they are led by qualified instructors, including faculty from the 猫咪头条 University School of Divinity. Instruction is offered on the 猫咪头条 campus, at various locations throughout the region, as well as online.
You are invited to be a part of one or several of these opportunities for spiritual enrichment. Join with other Christians of various denominations in developing a dynamic spirituality that is itself a powerful witness in the twenty-first century. Our hope is to enable Christians 鈥渢o grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ鈥� (2 Peter 3:18).
In 1999, the University launched the Center for Congregational Enrichment as an auxiliary of the School of Divinity. In the fall of 2004, the Center was renamed the James and Ganell Pittman Center for Congregational Enrichment. Since 2004, the Pittman Center has provided educational support to congregations throughout the region through a variety of short-term study opportunities.
The C.O. and Eliza Greene Endowed Lectureship was established in 1993 in honor of the Reverend and Mrs. C.O. Greene of Lawndale, North Carolina. The Reverend Greene served for approximately fourteen years as Director of Missions for the Kings Mountain Baptist Association. Prior to that ministry, he served as pastor of four churches in Cleveland County and of two other churches in North Carolina. The lectureship, administered by the Pittman Center for Congregational Enrichment and funded by family members, friends, and members of churches where the Reverend Greene served as pastor, was established to preserve the legacy of excellence in pastoral ministry which characterized his ministry. The lectureship addresses various dimensions of pastoral ministry and is held annually on the 猫咪头条 University campus.
While healing the nation鈥檚 racial divide seems like a daunting task, former National Football League player Derwin L. Gray and 猫咪头条 University alumnus Clayton King offered a practical first step.
